"Thousands of people who bought solar panels have complained to a financial watchdog that they are not bringing them the returns they were promised.

Many people took out loans to pay for panels on the promise they would save thousands of pounds in electricity costs and make money generating power.

They say they have not had the expected savings, and the Financial Services Ombudsman has had 2,000 complaints.

Barclays Bank has put aside £38m to deal with potential claims."

Thousands of customers complain about the Solar Panel Con

The older couple in the house next to me had it fitted and all I heard from them up to installation was how it was going to save them big money, they never stopped going on about it. Move forward a year and they never mention it and she is the type to mention it if she saves money. I've asked them about it when I see them in the driveway but I get a lukewarm answer and they move the conversation onto something else rather quickly :-lol

Maybe at the very start when they were first introduced you saved some money, the more people that do it the less you will get back.

It's like diesel cars, when they came out it was cheaper than regular petrol but you had to outlay more money buying the car and supposedly they were better for the environment then as more people bought them the cost of diesel started to go up and it became more expensive than regular petrol and now we find out it was less environmentally friendly than regular.

https://wattsupwiththat.com/2018/12/23/solar-panel-waste-a-disposal-problem/

Solar panels create 300 times more toxic waste per unit of energy than do nuclear power plants. If solar and nuclear produce the same amount of electricity over the next 25 years that nuclear produced in 2016, and the wastes are stacked on football fields, the nuclear waste would reach the height of the Leaning Tower of Pisa (53 meters), while the solar waste would reach the height of two Mt. Everests (16 km). 2
